People ask me how I stay in such good shape - it's actually pretty simple - I practice good habits.
I love food, lots of people do. Unfortunately, as fabulous as food can be, it can also become a problem. Food issues can come in many forms and have an enormous, negative impact on our entire lives. Due to my being bulimic for years, I’ve been overweight numerous times. At one point I weighed almost as much as when I was pregnant!
I’m now a health advocate – so I feel compelled to write about food and health. You don’t have to agree with everything you read here, but I hope you keep an open mind.

Over the years, many diets have been popular. The Kato diet is the rage currently. In 2019 it was considered, by experts in the field, to be one of the worst diets for health. One of the healthiest diets is the Mediterranean – consisting of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, fatty fish, olive oil, nuts, and legumes – it’s considered a balanced way of eating. Don’t take my word for it, you can google these diets.
I was mostly a vegetarian for nearly thirty years. Currently, I am a flexitarian; I eat fish every so often. I stay away from eating meat for ethical reasons, but it’s also good for the planet, you can google that, too. My diet is mostly filled with fruits and vegetables, as well as brown rice and legumes.
It’s well known that white flour has no nutritional benefit and lots of people are becoming gluten intolerant. Sugar is just plain bad for us. We know processed and fried foods are not good either. I used to live on this stuff; I now splurge every so often but keep health as my goal. In a nutshell – eating natural foods such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and nuts is healthy.
Super important is exercise! How can you expect to be healthy if you don’t let the body you were born with breathe through exercise? Don’t leave physical activity out of the equation of becoming more fit and being healthy. If weight loss is your goal, find a way to make exercise part of your plan.
If you have health issues such as high blood pressure or type 2 Diabetes, a healthy diet and exercise can free you from the need for medication. A great movie about this information is Forks Over Knives. There are great books out there, also. Again, you can google this.
One thing that keeps me on the path of mental and emotional well-being, is sitting quietly each day and taking a break from my rambling mind. That's when I'm able to return to peace and love.
I find yoga helps me stay healthy in body, heart, and mind - I don't love yoga, but I love the results I get from doing it.
I wish you all health and wellness. As Spoke said, “Live long and prosper.”
