I’m a fairly pragmatic, down to earth person. I work hard, and don’t take a lot of time to enjoy life – to have fun. The other night I thought, When this pandemic is over I’m going to go to that magical place - Disneyland and have some fun! Or maybe I’d go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Florida. As practical as I am, I like magic!
Harry Potter has magical powers and so does a Jedi. Pondering this I asked myself, Am I powerful? I’d like to zap something with a wand or swing a lightsaber some days, but I don’t have either one. YET, I realized, in a flash of wonder, I am powerful!
I can, at any moment, transform my experience by shifting my thoughts. I can literally shape-shift a negative thought to a positive one – that is amazingly powerful. What’s also amazing, but not in a wonderful way, is how I so easily forget these completely important life truths. With all that’s going on in the world right now, this powerful ability is something I need to start remembering and using more often.
I love the Wizard of Oz. It has a lot of magic in it from the Good Witch Glenda to the Ruby Red Slippers. Like me, Dorothy also forgot the power she had. She spent a whole lot of time wandering around Oz, trying to escape the Wicked Witch of the West, when all she had to do was tap her heels and say, “There’s no place like home.” Of course, she had to believe it, not just think it.
Dorothy needed to remember and believe in her power so she could return home. I need to remember and believe in mine, so I don’t get trapped in my negative thoughts.
The Pinocchio movie that Disney made with the Blue Fairy singing When You Wish Upon A Star is one of my favorite movies. I've decided to send a wish out into the universe to remember the power I DO have.
I’m going to work on ditching the negative thoughts and shifting them to change my reality. Now that’s a magical power I have and I don’t even need a wand or lightsaber!
